Surge battery is draining quickly

Hija, have had a Fitbit surge since Sep 2017. A fully charged battery is now only good for 45 mins use, which is not any good. Is approx 4 years the life expectancy for a Fitbit? If so, I find that very disappointing.

Kind regards, Alick

Yes, @AlickN that's correct, 4 years is the maximum expected life of a Fitbit or any fitness tracker with a LiPo battery, they're only rated for ~3 to 4 years though some last for longer. I've replaced batteries in hundreds of Fitbit Surge devices and am happy to help you or any other member here with self-servicing. It's fun, easy, and rewarding! 🤗

Hello AlickN! I’ve been using a surge too for about a month now. So after 5-6 years,I took my surge out to use it but it’s battery lasted only 1-2 minutes. So I kept using it and charging it and after a week or two it’s battery was lasting 1-2 days. So just have patience and use and charge it regularly and your surge will work perfectly. Hope this would have solved you problem.🙂

Hello Williger! Oh that’s nice that you service surges and I had a battery issue too but I charged and used it regularly and it just worked perfectly.

@Aayush00 that's awesome! Which kind of battery did you install? The one I shared above is 160mAh like Fitbit's original. Many aftermarket batteries are only 120mAH (shorter life).

Regarding your statement "approx 4 years the life expectancy for a Fitbit? If so, I find that very disappointing", put your disappointment into the battery technology, it's not Fitbit's fault. LiPo (Lithium POLYMER in caps in case the lady who'd insists they're LiON reads this post, as they're definitely not). Lipos last around 3-4 years 🤓

@Williger, I used the stock battery which Fitbit provided me when I bought the watch. I have a question @Williger, is the LiPo battery better or worser than lithium-ion battery?

Excellent choice, @Aayush00 both batteries have benefits but for our Fitbit trackers, only LiPo batteries make sense because of their small size and weight. LiOns are larger and heavier.

Do you sell the replacement battery?

Hello, I do not sell repacement batteries of the fitbit surge. I have moved
on to the Noise colourfit ultra. It is a superb watch! But if you need gps,
try going for the Apple watch or any Fitbit. It will come with built-in-gps.

@srinivas.choice   This battery is available in the US by a third party seller.  I'm pretty sure this sender can't ship to India.  But you can search Amazon India or another electronics site to see if you can find this model.
